Nwegbu, Mercy Ugochukwu, a Chartered Librarian is presently a Deputy University Librarian heading the Public Services Division of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.She has a B. Sc. Degree (Credit) in Library Science/Biology from the University of Zambia, Lusaka. She has also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Master Degree in Educational Administration, Master and Doctoral Degrees in Library and Information Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She has published in local and international Journals.

Mercy is a woman with dual profession. As a teacher, she has taught Biology, Integrated Science and Igbo in Secondary Schools. She guided and reformed many youths in schools. She rose to the rank of a Supervising Principal in Anambra State Education Commission before taking up her second career in Librarianship. As a Librarian she has worked in and headed various Sections of the University library. She was a Special Assistant to the University Librarian for four years. She organized the Gabriel Ejeckam Public Library at Isulo and provides general orientation for the running of the library. Paul University, Awka honoured and appreciated her for repositioning their library for a successful NUC Accreditation in 2013, when she was on Sabbatical Leave with them as Acting University Librarian.

Mercy’s research interest is in user studies. Her other areas of interest include sports and religious activities.  She is married and blessed with children.
