Dr. Emmanuel Dickson Chigbu is a chartered librarian, currently a Principal Librarian and head of the Collection Development Division of Nnamdi Azikiwe Library, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). He holds the Bachelor of Arts degree (BA Hons. UNN in History and Archaeology); Master Degree in Library and Information Science (MLS), of the University of Ibadan and PhD in Library and Information Science UNN. He has had a long experience in Librarianship, rising through the ranks as a Library Assistant up to the rank of a Principal Librarian. He has worked in several Departments of the Library and privileged to head various sections and divisions of the University of Nigeria Library. These include: Head: Acquisitions section; Serials section; Circulation section and the Cataloguing section, for several years. He has also headed the Serials Division for many years and is currently in charge of the Collection Development Division of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Library. Dr. Chigbu has attended many conferences, Seminars and workshops on library and information science, Education and Conflict resolution. He has published many articles in scholarly journals and contributed to book chapters in library and information science. He lectures undergraduates on the Use of library and study skills (GSP 111) and is the sub-coordinator of this course to the Faculty of Biological Sciences in the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is also in charge of the Library consultancy group to the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is a member of the University of Nigeria’s Library Management team.
