Dr. J. N. Ekere, a Chartered Librarian, is presently a Principal Librarian and Head of Reference Section, Nnamdi Azikiwe Library University of Nigeria Nsukka. She is a holder of B.Sc. (Hons); M.L.S and a Ph.D in Library and Information Science. She is a multifaceted library practitioner, educator and also a seasoned administrator. In 1997, she was employed as an Assistant Librarian and today she has over eighteen years post qualification and cognate experience. Dr. Ekere has to her credit, over a dozen articles published in reputable National and International journals and has presented papers at numerous international conferences. She teaches the Use of the library and study skills (GSP 111) to undergraduates and is consultant to some Non-governmental organizations. Dr. Ekere is creative and thorough. She has initiative and a cheerful disposition which enable her to get on with her superiors and peers. In 2004, the Governing Board of the American Biographical Institute (ABI) in recognition of her significant accomplishments within, and mastery of library and Information Science, conferred on her GREAT WOMAN OF THE 21ST CENTURY, a title reserved for women whose accomplishments and influence are the result of superior dedication and professional integrity. She is a member of professional associations such as Nigerian Library Association (NLA), African Library& Information Association & Institutions( AFLIA),  West African Library Association (WALA) and the International Conference on Education for Teaching(ICET) .
